Parochial Church Council News
The new PCC met on 8th May 2008 and the new members, Judith Whiteman, Loic Flory and Sheila Mackenzie were welcomed by Tim Mills and all the PCC. Goodbye had already been said at the APCM to Bruce Mackenzie as churchwarden and Carolyn Scoble as PCC secretary. Jacky Ward was welcomed into her new role as Churchwarden. Barry Richardson kindly agreed to fill the position of PCC Secretary for a period of time to help with the continuity from old PCC to new.
Peter Scoble was thanked for his time on the PCC and for staying on as Treasurer.
Development Project: May has been a month of receiving pledges and gifts for the Church extension project. As I write many thousands of pounds have been pledged or given during the month. We are so grateful to all who have given sacrificially to this exciting development.
The special month of May was launched with a day of prayer for the project, finishing with a supper in Ticehurst and Flimwell School.
We have had two visiting speakers John Ebdon (Chair of the diocese advisory committee on church developments) and James Hollingsworth (Rector of Barcombe) who both encouraged us in our endeavours. Barcombe is a village of a similar size to Ticehurst where an extension to the church went up some 18 months ago.
It was also a month of hard work behind the scenes by David Billinghurst, Peter Scoble, the Wardens and our Architect and Quantity Surveyor as we try to reduce the tender cost and refine the content of the tender document so the overall cost is reduced.  This is ongoing at the time of writing.
In my experience the journey to achieving a building project is full of highs and lows. Some things come together amazingly; some things take time and much consideration. Our hope and prayer is that the result will be a welcome addition to the church and community of Ticehurst, a blessing to all who use it.      Tim Mills
