Wealden District council has risen to the challenge of changes to public sector finance
and indeed was ahead of the game.

The changes have involved keeping front line services but with the Council operating in a different way
to save your money.

Protecting the Future : Preserving the Past
Our Achievements

  • Keep development in Wadhurst at a low level whilst recognisng need for affordable housing for local need
  • Overseen the Transformation Programme reducing overheads by over £1.7m with a further £3m by 2014.
  • Supported kerbside recycling roll out to all households
  • Kept Council Tax increases low and zero in 2011/12

Our Promises

  • we have set the agenda for the next 4 years through the Corporate Plan
  • to keep Council Tax increases as low as possible
  • to Re-use and recycle at least 60% of our waste
  • to Continue the drive for Hi-Speed Broadband across the District
  • to promote Affordable Housing for local need
