Rosemary Gurney Clark Artist & Etcher
In 1988 and 1990 Rosemary studied under the direction of Barry Watkins at his
studio in Somerset. His example and instruction set her firmly on the path for
a love of watercolour. The majority of her paintings begin with several hours
of fine detailed pen work. This is then enhanced with watercolour. All her paintings
are conducted on location, reflecting her love for the British countryside with
its quiet and sometimes forgotten corners.
In 1993 she studied the art of etching with tutor, Michael Chaplin, then Vice-President
of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers. Rosemary now has her own etching
studio and enjoys the strong contrasts between translucent watercolour and the
heavy inks of etching.
She has held several one-person shows which include amongst others:
Tonbridge
Library
Hall Place, Bexley
Sevenoaks Library
Ightham Mote
Mereworth
Greenwich Theatre
Barbican Library
Chequers Mead Theatre and Art Centre, East Grinstead
She has exhibited with the Society of Women Artists in the Centre of London several
times and has in the past two years taken part in the South East Open Studios
project.
She has also had experience of one to one teaching and has in the past tutored
painting holidays abroad. Rosemary welcomes commissions and is always happy to
discuss the possibilities. |
