ROTARY CLUB CHRISTMAS LIGHTS EVENT

This is an event to raise the community spirit, to make everyone feel part of Wadhurst, that will boost business and give us all an evening to enjoy together. Light up on 15th December!
What's going to happen?  Santa will be there, there will be a hog roast, entertainment, mulled wine, roast chestnuts, our choir, singing carols, the brass band, stalls in the hall and late opening of the shops. It is intended that this becomes an annual event and it can grow and develop as years go by.

A lasting benefit
Run by the Rotary Club and supported by the WDBA, the Wadhurst Partnership and the Parish Council, we are hoping to raise enough money to buy a defibrillator for the village. This is a vital piece of medical equipment that is used for people having heart attacks. It restarts the heart. This is to be run by the Fire Service. Which at first may sound strange but they are the group who can deliver this much needed service best in our area. They will be fully trained to use the new life saving equipment and they are very keen to get involved. Wadhurst has been identified by Sussex Ambulance Service as an area where its inhabitants are at risk by not having this equipment. If your heart stops your brain can be kept oxygenated by a first aider doing mouth to mouth resuscitation but it needs a defibrillator to start your heart again.

How can we help?
By placing an advert in the Rotary Club brochure OR making a donation, AND taking part in the evening of fun.  The cost of the call outs will be paid for by the Ambulance service. A vehicle has been purchased, and the scheme will be operated by the Fire Service. However, the village has to raise the money for the defibrillator which is £2000.  The Wadurst Partnership has given £400 to pay for some of the cost of the lights, presents for the children, brochure production and other small items which is great input. The WDBA has promised £400 to go towards the defibrillator itself.

If we as businesses can place adverts in the brochure (cost only £20) that will substantially help the fund. That money will go directly towards buying this most needed item. The Parish Council hopefully will be giving some money as well.  Those attending the event will be able to contribute by buying and donating on the evening. We all hope that the majority of the money can be raised at this one event.

Thank you for taking part. Let's hope we all enjoy ourselves and it helps bring people out to the village to have a positive Wadhurst experience.  It is one of those events that by taking part in and having fun will bring something thoroughly positive to the village for many years, and save lives -possibly of our own friends.
