Environment News
Much work has been carried out at the Jardin d'Aubers and the pond. The brambles have been cleared and the gravel area has been treated for weeds. It is looking much tidier while retaining a natural environment which will attract and sustain wildlife.
Next Year
In the next year we will continue our pond and garden improvements, evaluate the success of the floral displays, look to change the concrete litter bins for conservation ones and continue to support kerbside recycling, litter clearance and other ways to improve the environment for all. It is hoped that village residents may even want to work towards entering South East in Bloom in 2009.

No go from Libraries Fund
It was disappointing to hear recently that the bid put together by East Sussex County Council and supported by the Community including District and Parish Councillors has been turned down by the Government.
The options now are to try and fund the new library project another way or see if any other funding can be found to make the urgent refurbishment of the library.
Once books go into Wadhurst Library they can never be used by any other East Sussex library as they get too damp.
Surely Wadhurst deserves better facilities in the 21st Century.
Fire !!
Each year Wealden District Council with help from Safer Wealden Partnership and the Fire service set up an electric blanket test.
Whilst this initiative always seems to cause a smile when reported to the Parish Council the fact that over 45% of the 441 tested failed shows what an important service it is.
