Cllr Berger declared a prejudicial interest and left the room whilst the next item was discussed. Cllr Standley chaired the meeting for the following item only

WD/2008/0128 Leelands, Monks Lane Cousley Wood
Continued use of the site as a private gypsy caravan site for a single household

The applicant has appealed against Wealden District Council's refusal to grant permission and the committee discussed whether, and if so how, representations should be made to the planning inspectorate by the deadline of July 31st.
The committee reiterated its objection to the original application and encouraged the neighbours to seek further legal advice on any representation to the appeal. The committee asked for the subject to be on the next Full Council meeting and to seek the views of the Wadhurst Preservation Trust.

WD/2699/CC  Uplands Community College, Lower High Street
Replacement of existing timber windows and cladding to the Art & English ROSLA block and Science block with pvc

We question the wisdom of incurring this expense in view of the anticipated replacement of the buildings in 4 to 5 years time. If the Council is minded to approve the application it is considered that with the current emphasis on sustainability the windows should not be in pvc but in locally grown timber

We have no objection on grounds of appearance, effect on neighbouring properties.etc but are concerned over the  incremental growth since 1954

Construction of pedestrian access

We strongly object to the proposal which is ostentatious in the extreme, and too urban in character, particularly in this Conservation Area in an AONB It exacerbates the existing situation created by the new vehicular entrance to which we also strongly objected Further the applicant has not served the appropriate notice on the owner of the land on which the access crosses

Demolition of existing glazed structure to rear and construction of new, plus internal alteration and changes to fenestration

We have no objection as it is a marginal improvement of the existing structure

Two new 9 metre wooden polls (poles?)

We are unable to comment as it is not clear what the poles are intended to support, there being no Design Statement. If it is lights we would wish to see a drawing illustrating the fitting

WD/2008/1534/Prendoran, George Street
Demolition of existing detached bungalow and garages and replacement with two detached houses with associated garages and parking

We object on the grounds that there  would be overlooking of the garden of Manor Cottage, the design is completely out of character with the Edwardian terracing of George Street, the ridge height is excessive, being a metre higher than the adjoining dwelling, and finally pressure would no doubt be brought to bear to remove the trees to provide more light.
