Wadhurst Parish Council.
The Parish Council is the first tier of local government, covering
Wadhurst and its surrounding hamlets and countryside. It is made up of
15 councillors, elected every 4 years. The next election is in May
2011. The council employs a part time clerk and a caretaker.
Much of the business of the council is done by its committees, one of
the busiest is the Planning committee which meets every fortnight at
Carillon Cottage in the centre of the village on a Saturday at 9.30am.

Meetings of the Parish Council are open to members of the public and
with rare exceptions all decisions are made in public. Every meeting
has an opportunity for the members of the public to speak. Parish
Council meetings now take place at Sparrows Green Recreation Ground
Pavilion at 7.30pm on the second Thursday in the month.
Each year the Council sets the precept (which forms part of the Council Tax) to pay for the cost of its services.
