Minutes of Wadhurst Parish Council’s Planning Committee

Minutes of a meeting of the Planning Committee held at Carillon Cottage on Saturday 26th November, 2011 at 9.30 a.m.
Present:  Cllrs Bell, Berger, Gadd, Goolden (chair), Kent and Standley; also District Cllr Wells and 1 member of the public (Mr J Mamlok)

AGENDA
1.      To receive apologies for absence

4.      Public forum
Mr Mamlok  raised 3 points:
- he noted that the planning agenda was not on the website.  (Subsequently checked and confirmed that this had been a technical error).
- he asked if the report on the front page of the Courier of 25 November concerning the release of land in Wealden for development included any in Wadhurst.  Cllr Standley thought not, but agreed to confirm.
-  he raised the matter reported on page 10 of the Courier concerning the possible interest of Tesco in moving into the village, and in particular the adverse effect it would have on the present balance of our High Street.  After much discussion it was agreed that it is important to be prepared to deal with such an application if/when it is received and to gauge the opinion of the community on the matter.  It was agreed to put the matter to the next full meeting of the Parish Council.

5.      To consider licence and planning applications received and make recommendations
WD/2011/2386/F for UNIT 2, CASTLE KEEP BUSINESS CENTRE, WADHURST TN5 6DA
CHANGE OF USE TO CLASSIC CAR SHOWROOM, MOBILIA AND ASSOCIATED OFFICE USE
No objection; we note that our concern on the previous application (2011/1517) has been addressed, but continue to request that a condition prohibiting vehicle repairs be applied.
WD/2011/2446/F for FAIRVIEW, BALACLAVA LANE, WADHURST TN5 6EG
PROPOSED TWO STOREY SIDE EXTENSION
No objection (majority view); whilst we note that the percentage size of the proposed extension exceeds the design guide, we believe this is acceptable from the point of view of the street scene.
