Minutes of a meeting of the Planning Committee held at Carillon Cottage on Saturday 3rd September, 2011 at 9.30 a.m.

WD/2011/0279/FR and WD/2011/0280/LBR for HOPE COTTAGE, SPARROWS GREEN, WADHURST, TN5 6SH
(1) RETENTION OF A WOODEN SHED FOR USE AS AN ARTISTS STUDIO - RETROSPECTIVE. (2) ERECTION OF A RETAINING WALL TO STOP SOIL SLIPPAGE TO REAR OF PROPERTY. (3) ERECTION OF RETAINING WALLS TO CREATE RAISED BEDS. (4) REPLACEMENT OF 19th CENTURY BRICK PATIO WITH A YORK STONE PATIO. (5) CREATION OF A DECKED AREA TO THE REAR OF PROPERTY. Items 1 – 5 and 7; no objection.  Item 6; no objection, but (assuming the gate is to replace the existing gate) the new gate must be in keeping with the style and appearance of this listed property (no drawing available).
The committee comments that the drawings presented for this application were not helpful.

Discussed and approved current draft of document now entitled “Wadhurst Now and in the Future”; Cllr Konrad to draft a short insert referring to the Localism Bill, and the final draft will then be put to the next Full Council Meeting for agreement prior to circulation with the Parish Newsletter.

8.      To discuss support of the ‘Empower Local Councils’ initiative
Discussed and agreed to support this initiative, and this will be reported to the next Full Council Meeting.  The Clerk is to be requested to signify the Parish’s support to the promoters.

9.      Urgent issues at the discretion of the Chairman for noting
The Clerk is to be requested to follow up the letter to the Head of Planning and Control sent out after the meeting on 6 August for a reply.
